American applying to German universities: will my college transcripts?
Lets get real here. Your chance of transferring credits is not very high. This process is a pain in the ass between universities, it just gets worse and not any better, if it is also between different university cultures. It does not hurt your application to mention your college education. It simply has no effect if you are applying for first semester admittance. If you are confident that you have enough credits to justify admittance into a higher semester, of course you will have to mention those credits. In that case you should contact the university to ask for the procedure. A High School Diploma which is equivalent to the German Abitur and sufficient German skills will get you into a German Bachelors program. Your college history just doesnt matter.
