Do colleges care more about a weighted or unweighted GPA?
Public colleges in the state in which you attended high school, will look at the weighted GPA since they understand the metrics by which high schools in that state weight the GPA and which courses are included in the GPA. Whereas Private colleges do Not even consider GPA. Since private colleges get applications from around the World, let alone from around the USA, if there are 1,000 high schools, then there could be 1,000 different ways of calculating GPA or weighted GPA. In my high school touch typing, drivers education, and Physical Education were included in GPA The elite Private colleges look at: Complete transcript Accompanied by a detailed Secondary School Report that details the types of courses offered, the difficulty of the courses and the grading scheme used Mandatory letter of recommendation that is written by your guidance counselor (or head master) that describes you over a several year period as both a student and as a whole Person, Two letters of recommendation from teachers SAT/ACT score Two SAT subject test scores (either mandatory or Highly recommended).
