Do universities check the authenticity of transcripts?

University admissions offices require the school system to send high school transcripts directly to the university admissions office to guarantee the authenticity of the transcript. Similarly, transcripts from other colleges are sent directly to the university. There are online services that facilitate this transfer of transcripts for a small fee ($5 to $10). The school or college from which you want to send the transcript can point you towards the service that they use. If you insist that they send the transcript by the US Postal Service, they will charge a small fee. Often they waive the fees for the first two or three requests for them to send transcripts. If a student needs a physical transcript for some reason, the school issues a certified transcript which is physically sealed in an envelope by the registrars office. Students can get an unofficial transcript for your personal records, but no university admission office will accept it. Good Luck!
