How can I get into an elite university with a poor freshman year?
You should have no problem getting accepted into a good University. Most look at only at your final grades and GPA. So if you do well throughout along with your other activities they will be satisfied you can do the work in their University. A lot o0f students do poorly as a Freshman and then go on to top Universities because the focused on the rest of their time in school to getting top grades and participating in important activities. I flunked out my first semester, not because I couldnt get good grades, because I wasnt ready for college. I enjoyed party time and beer. I finally went back and got an MS Degree and a great career.
