How do university admissions offices determine the validity of GPAs?

In some states there are standards for homeschool transcripts, in most there are not. Regardless, there is no way to validate a transcript so they are accepted at face value as proof of high school curriculum completion. Hence, college admissions place more emphasis on test scores and other documentation of academic ability. If standardized test scores are less than adequate for the colleges to which you are applying, you may wish to consider attending community college for at least a year to prove you have the ability to compete in college level coursework.
