Most employers use university transcripts to confirm you have earned the degrees you list on your application/resume. This is usually part of the reference check processes and can happen before you are asked for an interview or after you have gone through the interview process and you are the top choice. Some employers check before the interview to assure they are not interviewing an unqualified candidate.
