Yes. There is a National Student Clearinghouse that checks whether students have previously enrolled elsewhere. I highly discourage lying on your university application about that in particular, because there is a good chance you will be caught. Simply explain why you withdrew from community college, whether it was medical or to take care of family, or something else. A W is better than failing. It wont be part of your new colleges GPA.
