Technically, the official transcript bears the seal of the institution and is transmitted directly from the institution or its designate. An unofficial transcript is usually one that may be obtained from a student resource system by the student and is generally only produced on white copy paper. You may be surprised at the number of students (and administrators/staff) that collaborated to produce a remarkable transcript for a student to become competitive for grad/professional school admission.
