Why do some universities admission request an official transcript?
More and more colleges are accepting self-reported grades. But most high schools use automated systems that make it relatively easy to submit official transcripts electronically. The colleges would rather ensure grades are accurate before making decisions rather than have to rescind offers for those students who lied or faked transcripts (which happens).
